St. John’s Centre is a retirement home for senior citizens ages 65 years and older. You must be capable of independent living with the help of support services. You must be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or have Refugee status. You cannot be under a deportation, departure or exclusion order. You cannot owe money to a social housing provider. However, you can be in the process of repaying a social housing provider.
How do I apply for an apartment at St. John’s Centre?
You must complete an application forms in order to be considered for an apartment. This process will include a personal tour allowing us an opportunity to get to know one another and determine if the Centre is a good fit for your needs. You will need to reserve a time for your tour by calling the office.
Does St. John’s Centre have a Wait list?
Yes. There is a Rent-Geared–to-Income wait list which is mandated by the City of Peterborough and is filled in chronological order or on a first come first serve basis. The Market Rent wait list is not mandated. Wait times vary according to the accommodation requirements. Special priority is given to victims of violence and abuse.
Are there social activities at St. John's Center?
St. John’s Centre celebrates all major holidays. The decorations are plentiful and put everyone in the spirit of the holiday. There is also a tenant BBQ and corn roast on the back patio during the summer months. A furnished common room for group or individual activities includes a TV, keyboard, karaoke machine and a selection of puzzles and various board games. The Tenant Association organizes weekly bingo and a variety of great tenant activities. As well, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, (via the LINK) invites all tenants to attend their year-round activities. We welcome any suggestions you may have.
